Remastered Release

This post marks the release of a new version of The Sentinel Project.

The original game was group project created for a Game Design class at UCF. It was one of the first games any of us had worked on, so it had various issues with art and programming.

The goal I set for myself with this release was to generally improve the game without making it feel like a different game by the end.

This is a non-comprehensive list of updates/improvements I made:

  • Overall scaling
  • Use of lighting
  • Baked lighting and occlusion culling
  • Added interaction audio with keys and buttons
  • Adjusted audio overall
  • The keypad in the final room now has interactable buttons (so you don't type on your keyboard now)
  • The small display in the final room now replicates the large display
  • Added sprinting, jumping, crouching, and toggling of the flashlight
  • Fixed the cursors behavior
  • Added a reticle for the player
  • Added an additional sentinel and tweaked their behavior
  • Added more usage of the existing props
  • The clue screens are now randomly assigned numbers, so the code will be different each time
  • The player can hide under desks to avoid sentinel detection
  • Added a screen in the start room with the controls
  • Fixed various bugs
